Get Your Powder Room Ready for Summer Entertaining

As we move into the season of hosting, the powder room is one of those spaces that quietly gets noticed. It may be small, but it leaves an impression and it’s often worth giving it a little extra attention before summer guests start coming through.

The good news is, it doesn’t take a full renovation to make it feel updated. A few thoughtful changes can completely shift the space.

This is such a great example of a warm, inviting powder room look. It’s interesting on the eye, yet not over whelming. The earthy tones creates a sense of calmness and relaxation.

Start with the faucet

If there’s one place to focus, it’s the faucet. It sets the tone for the entire room. Whether you lean warm and classic or something more modern and bold, it’s usually the piece that everything else works around. It acts as a focal point at the vanity, influencing the direction of your finishes, hardware, and overall feel of the space.

There is nothing better than a wall-mounted faucet to spice up your powder room. It instantly elevates the look and feel of the space by one simple touch.

Note: The plumbing will have to be moved through the wall, so if you are thinking of doing something different to the back side of the wall, this would be a great opportunity to swap to a wall-mounted faucet!

Keep the finishes intentional

After selecting your main fixture, consider how the surrounding finishes interact. A space doesn’t need to be perfectly matched, mixing metals can introduce depth and visual interest, especially in a powder room. The goal is a palette that feels intentional and balanced, rather than accidental.

Here is a beautiful example of mixing metals in a powder room. The gold of the faucet is a great touch and is eye-catching. From there, the gold is matched with the sconces + hardware. When you look at this space you find yourself looking up and down where the gold is placed - this is what we want.

The secondary metal, matte black, is place through the mirror, bathroom accessories and black wall.

The combination with a matte black and gold can be a dramatic bold look. However, this space is instantly softened by the wooden vanity.

If you are looking to start incorporating mixing metals, this is a great example to go off of.

Layer in the details

This is where a powder room really starts to come together. Accessories like a soap dispenser, towel ring, or a small tray help the space feel finished without overcomplicating it. It’s less about adding more, and more about choosing pieces that work well together.

Adding in small accessories such as the wooden round riser with the vase and stems gives height and beauty. A simple soap dispenser, along with a bar of soap and a soap dish, gives a more luxury feel. On this vanity, the accessories are minimal, doesn’t over crowd the space and work well together.

Keep it simple

A well-done powder room feels easy to use and comfortable to be in. Fresh hand towels, good lighting, and a bit of styling go a long way. These small details are often what guests notice most. A powder room works best when it feels clean and uncluttered. A few well-chosen updates will always have more impact than trying to change everything at once. It’s really about refining what’s already there.
